Your First Week as a Physician!
Your first week as an intern (R1) provides time for you to gain basic training with the electronic health record, download necessary apps, and provides dedicated time for you to meet with the entire team to better understand their professional roles within the practice.
All appointments are 30 minutes.
Resident schedules begin at 8:15AM (R3 and R2) and 8:30AM (R1) and 1:15PM (R3 and R2) and 1:30PM (R1).
These are the times the patient is to arrive for their appointment. Your expected time to start seeing patient is 15 minutes after scheduled time to allow for check-in and rooming.
If patients are 15 minutes late, you will have the option to see patient or ask other resident/faculty to see patient, but we make every effort to avoid turning a patient away. You may not be able to cover all the needs of a patient who arrives late, and the patient should be encouraged to schedule a follow-up appointment at a later time to address multiple issues.

For each clinic session, Uptown Primary Care has a ratio of 2 (two) residents to 1 (one) attending. This limits the time a resident has to wait to sign out a patient.
Our resident work area offers modern workspace features, including a standing desk, comfortable and plush conversational chairs, and even balance ball chairs which our residents can use to improve their core strength and mental focus.
